Resource Guides are Live!

In July we announced we were putting together a resource guide specifically for families with children 0-5. We are happy to announce all three of our counties - Clatsop, Columbia, and Tillamook - now have guides that are up and live!

As a reminder these guides LIVING DOCUMENTS, meaning we'll be regularly updating and if you see a resource not listed or if we learn of a new resource in the community, we'll be able to update it quickly!

Check out your county guide by going to our RESOURCES page on the website.

Training & Professional Development Opportunities - Scholarships Available

As the new year school year is about to kick off, we know there will be a lot of conferences with training and professional development opportunities. Northwest Early Learning Hub is excited to offer scholarships to support early childhood and early grade educators to participate in training and professional development.

Here are a few training and conferences that educators in our region have attended in the past and found valuable learning opportunities.

Opal School Visitation Days October 25-27th -  This workshop invites participants into a study of Opal School children (age three through grade five) and teachers at work. Consider how approaches that view children’s social-emotional, intellectual, creative, and academic qualities as strongly interlinked support growth. Because we know that it’s hard for participants to leave their classrooms so early in the year, this professional development retreat is shorter than our other school-year offerings and runs into Saturday morning.

COSA 2018 Early Learning Conference November 7-9th - In it's sixth year, this conference energizes and empowers attendees to face changes and gain skills.  With over 50 sessions, exciting networking opportunities, and thought-provoking speakers, attendees will leave exhilarated and more prepared to serve students and families.

Oregon Association for Comprehensive Education Jan 24th - 26th, 2019 - The annual conference of the Oregon Association for Comprehensive Education brings the best in teacher and parent education. Workshop and symposium topics have included migrant education, early learning, parent strategies for student success, trauma informed practice, and more.

Red Light, Purple Light: A Self-Regulation Intervention Program - This online, self-paced, expertly-designed course gives you the training needed to implement evidence-based self-regulation activities in early childhood learning settings. The Red Light, Purple Light intervention focuses on a series of music- and movement-based circle time games that can be used to promote young children's self-regulation at home and at school. In this online course, you will learn everything they need to know to implement Red Light, Purple Light successfully.

If you are interested in any of these opportunities and would like to apply for a scholarship from NW Early Learning Hub, please email Victoria Tijerina-Beach at

Early Childhood Community Resource Guides

We are grateful for our many community partners that are helping us put together an early childhood focused community resource guide. We heard from parents and partners that while it is great to have county wide resource guides, it would be helpful to have something specifically focused on families with children birth to age 5.

Rather than re-create the wheel, we are pulling from existing resource guides and reaching out to partners to put together these Early Childhood Resource Guides. This guide will be a LIVING DOCUMENT, meaning we'll be regularly updating and if you see a resource not listed or if we learn of a new resource in the community, we'll be able to update it quickly!

Our first guide for Columbia County is LIVE and we are working to get Tillamook and Clatsop County live by the end of July. You can access Columbia County Early Childhood Resource Guide below:

Once completed, you can access the Tillamook and Clatsop County guides through our Resources page on this website.

If you have any questions about the guide or resources to add, please reach out to Elena Barreto at
